Palestine Extends Condolences to Zimbabwe Over Lake Kariba Boat Tragedy

The State of Palestine has expressed its deepest condolences to Zimbabwe following the tragic capsizing of a boat on Lake Kariba, which left several people dead and others missing.
In a message directed to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Government and people of Zimbabwe, the State of Palestine said it received news of the disaster with “great sorrow”, extending solidarity to the country during what it described as a period of heavy loss.
“On behalf of the State of Palestine, and in my own name, I extend our deepest condolences to His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Government, and the people of the Republic of Zimbabwe,” the statement said.
The Palestinian authorities also expressed concern for those still unaccounted for following the accident, while wishing survivors a speedy recovery.
“We pray for the swift recovery of those still missing, wish the survivors a speedy recovery, and extend our comfort to the bereaved families,” the statement said.
The State of Palestine also commended Zimbabwean authorities, emergency services and members of the public involved in the response to the tragedy.
It praised those working tirelessly to locate missing persons and provide assistance to people affected by the incident.
The message comes as Zimbabwe mourns the loss of lives in the Lake Kariba tragedy, with the accident highlighting the dangers faced by communities and travellers on the country’s major inland water bodies.
Palestine said it stood in solidarity with Zimbabwe as families grieve their loved ones and the country continues efforts to account for those who remain missing.
The statement concluded with a solemn tribute to the victims, saying: “May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”
The expression of solidarity adds to messages of sympathy being received by Zimbabwe as rescue and recovery efforts continue following the Lake Kariba tragedy.
