A HARARE woman has been granted $500 000, every month, for the maintenance of her two children.

She successfully applied for a review from the $112 000, which she was receiving every month, citing the high cost of living.

Amanda Gombwe dragged her husband, Martin Gombwe, to court demanding an increase, barely three months after she got another raise.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavira granted Amanda’s application.

“He is my husband but he left home two weeks ago and I don’t know where he is staying right now.

“He has three cars he uses as mushikashikas and makes US$300 per month.

“He cannot fail to pay $500 000 for his two children.

“He is squandering money with girlfriends and that’s why he is not taking care of his children.

“Kana ne school fees haasi kubhadhara,” she said.

Martin pleaded poverty, saying he was not working and couldn’t afford his wife’s demand.

“My offer is $150 000, plus I have a lot of other responsibilities.

“She is lying that I have three cars, I don’t own them.

“I have no money, that is why I have been struggling to pay $112 000,” he said.

After granting Amanda her demand, magistrate Mashavira advised Martin to work hard and take good care of his children.
