A NYANGA man committed suicide after he allegedly killed his wife and three children recently.
Family sources confirmed that Edward Chirombe (43) allegedly murdered his wife Joice Mashenu and children in cold blood.
Chirombe allegedly attacked his wife, two daughters – aged 14 and eight – and 12-year-old son with an unknown object.
“He killed his wife and three children and spent the night with the bodies. We visited him after the incident but he would not let us into his house. We are all shocked,” said Edward’s elder brother, Nicholas Chirombe.
Edward’s corpse was discovered in a hilly area in Ngaasekwe Mugomba Village under Chief Hata yesterday.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying police are currently conducting investigations to ascertain the motive behind the killings.
“Police are investigating a matter in which Edward Chirombe is alleged to have killed his wife and three children before committing suicide at Ngaasekwe Mugomba Village in Nyanga.
“The corpses were found by the police after a relative reported the matter. They were found in a hut and a flat roomed house. We are now investigating the circumstances which led to this gruesome murder and the motive behind the unfortunate incident,” he said.
