Property mogul’s son fakes late father’s edtate documents
GREED allegedly got the better of the late Mutare property mogul, Pius Mutyasira’s son who was arrested for fraudulently altering his deceased father’s estate documents to deprive his other siblings numbering more than 40.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrest of Derron Mutyasira (41) and his accomplice, Progress Mudondo (38).
The two, who were in police custody yesterday (Thursday), are set to be arraigned before the courts today on three counts of fraud.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said the duo connived, on three separate occasions, to submit fraudulently altered estate documents to Master of the High Court in an attempt to grab the properties for personal benefit.
“On July 23, 2023, Derron Mutyasira and Mudondo hatched a plan to fraudulently inherit a property from the estate of the late Mr Pius Mutyasira. Derron and Progress are friends, with Derron being the son to the late Mr Mutyasira.
“Derron who had particulars of the deceased connived with Mudondo to craft a fraudulent Deed of Donation in respect of Stand Number 3355A, Umtali Township, measuring 3 120 square metres, described as Number 8, Falcon, Greenside, Mutare.
“The property is held under Deed Number 0002623/2007 and in the fake documents, the duo purported that the late Mr Pius Mutyasira had donated the property to Derron Mutyasira.
“The two accused submitted the documents to the Office of Master of the High Court. On September 22, 2023, the two accused hatched a plan again to fraudulently inherit a property from the estate of the late Mr Pius Mutyasira,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
He added: “Using the same modus operandi, the duo submitted fraudulent documents to the Office of Master of the High Court, purporting that the late Mr Pius Mutyasira had donated Stand Number 106, Avondale West of Avondale of Lot 21 Block, measuring 793 square metres held under Deed Number 6826/2004, described as Number 22,Wicklow Road, Avondale West, Harare to Figueiredo Sheron Michelle nee Mutyasira.
“On September 28, 2023, the two accused persons crafted a fraudulent agreement of sale of Stand Number 3431, Umtali Township of Mutare, measuring 3 124 square metres, held under Deed Number 9805 of 97, purporting that the late Mr Pius Mutyasira had sold the property to Villa Tanyaradzwa Mutyasira.
“The two again submitted their fraudulent documents to the Master of the High Court.”
The unfolding case which is under investigation for possible more counts of fraud involving more properties that belonged to the late Mr Mutyasira has unearthed that the deceased businessman had more than 40 children, six of whose mothers have already registered their interests with the Master of the High Court.
