The assailants not only damaged goods but also assaulted traders, leaving the complex in disarray.

Caught on Camera: Violent Rampage at Vito Complex

The horrifying attacks were captured on CCTV, and video footage showing the moment the terror gang attacked the traders was shared on social media. The CCTV footage captures the assailants on a rampage, using their axes to smash solar panels while others throw gas tanks around.

The shocking CCTV footage has prompted widespread calls for the arrest of the perpetrators. Traders are now living in constant fear, with concerns rising about their safety and the apparent lack of intervention.

Retaliation in Ruins: Attacks on Traders Linked to Harare Youth League Chairman’s Arrest

The attacks are believed to be in retaliation for the arrest of Harare Youth League chairman Emmanuel Mahachi. According to the court documents, Mahachi, 36, of Westgate was apprehended last Saturday after an earlier violent incident at the complex, where he allegedly brandished a firearm, firing shots into the air and threatening welders.

However, Mahachi was acquitted of the charges on Monday when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Donald Ndirowei. Magistrate Ndirowei refused to remand Emmanuel Mahachi, who was arrested on armed robbery charges, citing that the matter had more do to with land issues than the matters at hand.

Following Mahachi’s release, his supporters allegedly returned to the complex, attacking individuals perceived to be aligned with the owner, Blessed Charakupa. They claimed immunity due to Mahachi’s court outcome, leaving traders vulnerable to further violence.
