President Mnangagwa Rewards Brave Mhondoro Siblings for Saving Mother from Crocodile
Moved by their tale of bravery, President Mnangagwa awarded Peace and Luckmore Magaya with scholarships and gave them US$5,000 each.
A Daring Rescue: How Brother and Sister Rescued Mother from Crocodile
In January this year, the brother and sister, aged 12 and 10, courageously confronted a menacing crocodile to rescue their mother, who was being attacked by the reptile.
A video of the siblings recounting the encounter went viral on social media. In the footage, one of the children described the harrowing experience.
“We saw her being dragged into the river by a crocodile. This is when we found a long stick which we stretched towards her and pulled her out. It tried to attack her on the leg and I blocked the crocodile by inserting a hand in the mouth, disturbing it from pulling the woman into the river,” narrated the boy.
The crocodile put up a fierce fight, nearly dragging the entire family into the water. It was then that the younger sister bravely placed his leg on the crocodile’s head and attacked its eyes with a stick. Eventually, the reptile retreated into the water.
After successfully pulling their mother out of the river, they noticed that she had sustained injuries to her leg. They called for help, and a villager came to their aid, assisting her back home.
