A spirited Chegutu Pirates side was unfortunate to come out with a draw against Yadah in a goalless match at The Heart Stadium in Waterfalls, Harare on Saturday.
Pirates dominated from the onset, exchanging exciting passes and could have scored had they been precise in front of the goal.
In the 11th minute, Yadah had their goalie Tinotenda Takarinda to thank for tipping impressive Tinotenda Chiunye’s shot over the crossbar.
Yadah attempted to through in the second half but a compact Pirates rearguard well marshalled by Reuben Machaya denied them access to the goal.
Pirates could have grabbed a winning score in added time when Simbarashe Domingo played a neat pass to Cleopas Dube, but Dube did not execute well due to his mistaken belief that he was offside.
Pirates gaffer Emmanuel Day Gutu, who like Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone spent the entire game time constantly barking orders, hailed his boys for earning a point though he felt they had opportunities to win.
“The boys played very well, and we need to be consistent from now on.
“Getting a point is positive, and I believe we are on the right track,” said Gutu.
