Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding Donates Groceries To Dzikwa Activity Center

Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding on Monday donated over US$3 500 worth of groceries to Dzikwa Activity Center in Dzivarasekwa suburb.
The activity center was founded by Mr Seppo Ainamo and Mrs Oili Wuolle in 2003. The Finish couple have managed to uplift and empower impoverished the Dzivarasekwa community by providing educational and skills training to vulnerable children in the community. The donation by the Chinese Ambassador comes at a time when the country is facing an El Nino-induced drought which is the worst drought in southern Africa.
“Today, we have selected Dzikwa Trust as one of our destination, acknowledging your long-standing dedication to the well-being of Zimbabwean children,” said Ambassador Zhou Ding. He said upon assuming his role as Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe he has profoundly been moved by the warmth of the Zimbabwean people, captivated by the stunning natural landscapes and deeply touched by the inspiring stories and the unique friendship between the two nations.
Among the donations were tablets for the ICT studies, bathing and washing soaps, sugar, and dried relish, to mention just a few.
“China and Zimbabwe share a historical bond that dates back to over 600 years ago and honed through China’s unwavering support during Zimbabwe’s struggle for liberation that brought independence in 1980. China has contributed significantly to Zimbabwe’s development, constructing hospitals, schools, airports and power stations, offering free medical services, supporting youth and women’s empowerment benefitting millions of Zimbabweans,” said Ambassador Zhou Ding .
Dzikwa Trust Center is supporting different community projects which have empowered Dzivarasekwa Community among others are fish projects, disability centers, re-afforestation and many others.
