In a heartwarming display of community service, scores of small and medium-scale enterpries were taken through the paces of being competitive in a cut-throat environment by the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (Manicaland Chapter).
The CZI held a workshop Wednesday targeting SMEs in Mutare, the idea being to mentor and provide information on how they can grow.
The CZI team of dedicated business professionals who were at Golden Peacock Hotel took the Mutare-based SMEs through the various demands of a changing business environment.
The CZI national vice-president Victoria Jakazi said they organized the workshop specifically for SMEs.
“For Manicaland businesses to win tenders, small and medium-scale SMEs should be registered and follow right protocols.
“Formalization for all small and medium-scale businesses helps for business growth,” said Mrs Jakaza.
One of the attendants. Bishop Magura, said his business had grown in leaps and bounds after the CZI’s intervention.
“I am not an opportunist businessman,” Magura said. “In 1992 I was a vendor and then I followed all the protocols taught to me, and here l am.”
He registered his business and saw growth from being a vendor to the prominent businessman he is today.
Jakazi said well-paying tenders needed the right protocols and registered companies.
“Hence there is need for SMEs in Manicaland Province to formalise their operations in order to win tenders and be competitive.”
