Apostole Joe Guti is chosen as new Bishop of Zaoga, sparking controversy

  • The ordination of Apostle Joseph Guti as the new Presiding Bishop of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries has ignited a mix of emotions among church members and social media users. On one hand, many are celebrating the continuation of the Guti legacy, which has been instrumental in shaping the ministry into the international movement it is today. Apostle Joseph Guti, the grandson of the late Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, officially took the helm of the ministry at a ceremony held at the Africa Multination for Christ College in Glen View, Harare, attracting hundreds of congregants and religious leaders worldwide

On the other hand, some have expressed concerns about the leadership transition, questioning whether the appointment of Apostle Joseph Guti makes the church appear more like a family business than a religious institution. Despite these reservations, it’s worth noting that Apostle Joseph Guti has been actively involved in the ministry and held significant positions within the church, including serving as the Executive Director at Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University and director of the Africa Multination for Christ College Bible School. His experience and understanding of the church’s principles and operations will likely play a crucial role in his new leadership position.

The ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries, founded by Archbishop Ezekiel Guti in 1960, has grown into a global movement with locations in over 160 nations and states. The ministry’s mission is to preach the uncompromising gospel of Jesus Christ, and Apostle Joseph Guti is expected to carry on this legacy. While some may view the appointment as a family succession, others see it as a natural progression, given Apostle Joseph Guti’s background and involvement in the ministry.

As Apostle Joseph Guti embarks on his new role, he will likely face both opportunities and challenges. The support of the church community and his experience will be essential in navigating these complexities. Ultimately, the success of his leadership will depend on his ability to balance tradition with innovation, ensuring the ministry remains relevant and effective in spreading the word.
