Harare woman impregnated 16 times by married lover, forced to abort 15 times
In a dramatic courtroom scene in Harare, Zimbabwe, two women engaged in a heated dispute over a shared lover, leading to explosive revelations about a series of abortions and a complex love triangle. The case, which unfolded before Magistrate Sharon Mashavire, highlighted the emotional and physical toll on one of the women involved, Sharon Zhuwawo, who accused her lover, Goodwill Ndarama, and his wife, Valentine Mahlupeko, of orchestrating her repeated pregnancies and subsequent abortions.
Sharon Zhuwawo made stunning allegations, claiming that she had been impregnated by Ndarama a total of 16 times. Of those pregnancies, 15 resulted in abortions, while one ended in a miscarriage. In a tearful testimony, Zhuwawo stated that she was coerced into having the abortions, and pointed the finger at Ndarama’s wife, accusing her of being the mastermind behind the traumatic terminations.
“Valentine was the one who brainwashed Goodwill to take me to have all those abortions,” Zhuwawo told the court, adding that she felt manipulated and trapped in the toxic relationship. According to her testimony, Valentine Mahlupeko had made it clear that Zhuwawo would never be allowed to bear a child as long as she remained in the picture. “She always told me that I would never bear a child as long as she is alive,” Zhuwawo said, painting a picture of a deliberate and malicious plan to keep her from having a family with Ndarama.
The feud between the two women, which played out in the courtroom, highlighted the complicated dynamics of Ndarama’s relationships. While Zhuwawo had been involved with Ndarama for years and had suffered numerous emotional and physical challenges as a result, it was revealed that she was not the only other woman in his life. In court, it was disclosed that Ndarama had seven girlfriends, all of whom were seemingly unaware of the extent of his involvement with Zhuwawo and Mahlupeko.
The situation came to a head when Zhuwawo, frustrated by years of mistreatment, decided to take the matter to court. She felt abandoned by Ndarama after enduring numerous abortions, which she claimed were conducted under pressure from him and his wife. The courtroom drama provided a rare glimpse into the extent of Ndarama’s double life and the toll it had taken on the women involved.
For her part, Valentine Mahlupeko denied the accusations leveled against her, maintaining that she had no role in the abortions and that Zhuwawo’s claims were baseless. However, Zhuwawo insisted that Mahlupeko had actively worked to keep her from having children, accusing her of using manipulation and emotional abuse to maintain control over Ndarama. The strained relationship between the two women was evident as they exchanged accusations and recriminations in front of the court.
Ndarama, who was at the center of the dispute, appeared unfazed by the courtroom spectacle. His involvement with multiple women, including Zhuwawo and Mahlupeko, seemed to have created a web of lies and deceit, resulting in deep emotional scars for those involved. Zhuwawo’s decision to speak out in court was an attempt to hold Ndarama accountable for the pain she had endured over the years.
The case has attracted widespread attention in Zimbabwe, with many expressing shock at the revelations and the extent of Ndarama’s infidelity. The disclosure that Zhuwawo had undergone 15 abortions, allegedly at the behest of Ndarama and his wife, has sparked outrage and raised questions about the legal and ethical implications of such a situation. While abortion is legal in Zimbabwe under certain circumstances, the repeated terminations in this case have raised concerns about the potential abuse of reproductive rights and the mental health toll on women involved in such relationships.
Zhuwawo’s claims also underscore the vulnerability of women in abusive relationships, where manipulation and coercion can lead to devastating consequences. Her testimony served as a reminder of the importance of legal protection for women who find themselves in such situations, as well as the need for greater awareness of the emotional and psychological impact of coerced abortions.
