In a surprising turn of events, organisers of the Lost Awards have been accused of vote tampering by one contestant who has sewn his vote tally drop overnight from 12 000 to 7 000.

This has raised concerns over potential vote tampering, or system hacking.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, the contestant, Jussa Kudherezera, confirmed that his votes dropped from 12000 to 7000 overnight.

Kudherezera had initially sent out a hearty Thank You to his thousands of supporters, whi h he has now had to backtrack on.

“Thank you all for the 12 000 votes for the Awards List finalilist in the Youth Impact Award as of Monday 7 October 2024 at 10.40pm. This means a lot to me, the Manica Youth Assembly, our partners, family and friends,” said Kudherezera.

The sudden vote reduction came as a surprise to him, forcing him to change his tone.

“This morning, we noticed that the award organizers have reduced the vote count from 12000 to 7000 for reasons best known to themselves.

“We hope and pray they will rectify this issue immediately to maintain transparency and integrity,” he said.

In an effort to get a comment from Identies Media, the List organisers for clarification, this publication spoke with Nyaradzo Mashayamombe, a senior executive.

“I am not able to comment at this point. We do not believe that has happened but we are investigating the issue,” Mashayamombe said.

She acknowledged that they have seen allegations against vote tampering online.

The List Awards are a high-profile initiative by Identities Media, recognizing distinguished citizens making impactful changes in various fields such as community development, business, arts, media, science, sports, humanitarian efforts, and the arts. These A-list awards aim to raise the bar for recognition in Zimbabwe and Africa, comparable to the prestige of the Oscars in America.

“We wish to restore the integrity and respect of awards which have become too commercialised at the detriment of the deserving women and men who work to impact our country and continent; therefore, our winners receive a comprehensive package (subject to sponsors), including financial rewards,” the orgaisers say onntheir website.
