A ZETDC Kadoma District foreman has clarified the utility’s position on the power energy supplies to City of Kadoma Water Treatment Plants after the local authority recent water supplies to its residents had become too erratic, it can be revealed.
Providing ZETDC response during a meeting dubbed “Water Crisis: Finding a Way Forward” called by City of Kadoma residents associations at Anglican Hall, ZETDC Kadoma District, Engineer Patrick Shaninga put to rest the position of the power utility supplies to City of Kadoma Water Treatment Plants.
“Kadoma needs 35MW of electricity but we’re only allocated 8MW daily,so we prioritize Kadoma General Hospital, City of Kadoma Water Treatment Plants and a few industries. We’ve two feeder lines, Etina line, which feeds Blue Ranges and Pasi Water Works and Claw-Empress line but we also have some challenges since we’ve other customers on these lines but we alwaus try our best.
“Etina line is always live but the Claw-Empress line we shed it in the morning around 0600hrs and it is restored around 1000hrs and we shed it again around 1600hrs. We’ve liased with Mr Hatinahama (council employee) on their requirements, that is to have power at the two plants simultaneously,so we’re trying to balance the two water treatment plants but their shedding schedule is not as bad as other areas in Kadoma,” said Engineer Shaninga much to the amazement of the residents.
The response by the ZETDC Engineer pu the problem of erratic water supply in Kadoma squarely in the hands of the local authority with residents questioning the way the water supply is handled by the council.
Kadoma residents had gone for nearly a month without the precious liquid that forced residents associations to engage with their city fathers, mothers and council management in an effort to find a lasting solutions to the perennial water supply problem.
