Plot to keep Mnangagwa in power until 2030 revealed in leaked audio bad news for General Chiwenga

A leaked audio recording has blown open Zimbabwe’s biggest political secret, showing plans to keep President Mnangagwa ruling until 2030, crushing VP Chiwenga’s dreams of taking power.

 

The explosive recording caught Masvingo Zanu-PF official Simon Muchafa fighting with retired general Engelbert Rugeje, who supports Chiwenga. Muchafa made it clear – Masvingo wants only their own man, Mnangagwa, in power.

 

 

 

“General, if you are the one who wants to be president, we will support you, not what you are imposing on us to return the presidency to those who come from Mashonaland,” Muchafa blasted in the recording. He attacked Rugeje for missing a key meeting about the “2030 project” to keep ED in power.

 

Muchafa didn’t stop there: “If you don’t give us anyone from Masvingo, I won’t support them. I love President Mnangagwa because he is from Masvingo.” He brought up old wounds, saying: “Mugabe ruled for so many years and we have had just two terms and you want us to go already, yet we are the majority voters.”

 

Then came the big threat: “If you are going to fire me from the party, you will fire me together with my President, Mnangagwa.”

 

The “2030 for ED” plan, backed by big names like Owen Ncube and Daniel Garwe, goes against ED’s public words about following term limits. But whispers say he secretly loves the idea, leaving Chiwenga out in the cold.

 

The fight has turned ugly, splitting between Mnangagwa’s Karanga people and Chiwenga’s Zezuru group. A top party boss warned: “The tribal dimension to the divisive campaign sets a dangerous precedence not only for the party, but the country as well.”

 

The power grab is spreading fast. Secret meetings in Zaka and Chiredzi pushed the 2030 plan. In Chiwenga’s backyard of Mashonaland East, his friends are getting kicked out of party jobs. More kicks are coming.

 

 

Party boss Obert Mpofu tried to cool things down: “Zanu PF has always had meetings to discuss various party issues to consult people on party affairs.” But everyone knows what’s really happening – a big power move is underway.

 

The anger is growing. In Harare, war veterans shouted down Goodwills Masimirembwa for backing the 2030 plan. This fight could rip Zanu-PF apart and throw Zimbabwe into big trouble.

 

When asked about the tape, Rugeje kept quiet: “He was not talking directly to me, though he mentioned my name…That I can’t comment.” Party man Munyaradzi Machacha played dumb about the whole thing.
