A media report implicating Gokwe-Kabuyuni MP Hon. Spencer Tshuma (ZANU PF) in the death of Kadoma pharmacist and businessman Elison Tambudze, who was shot in cold blood at his home early November this year, is said to be full of glaring half truths and falsehoods, impeccable sources have revealed.
It emerged that the two parties on December 28 this year managed to meet in an encounter brokered by a leading and respected businessman (name supplied) to clarify their positions.
From the meeting, it is established that the Tambudze family has no issue whatsoever with Hon. Tshuma. They also are stung by agents publishing vexing reports over the death of Mr. Elison Tambudze.
They say the report serves no one’s interests except fanning hatred, despondency, mayhem and raising unnecessary alarm.
A highly placed Tambudze family source said they are grieving, also highlighting that they are not behind the maliciously manifested report implicating Hon Tshuma.
The family source added that they cannot make any other comments save to say their position is clear as they have a cordial relationship with the sacrificed legislator. The land mentioned in the false story, the source mentioned, was properly acquired and that deal sealed.
Their stance, the source added, should not be blown out of context.
A source on the other side said Hon. Tshuma had a fruitful meeting with the family through a representative, burying suspicion or any bad blood between the honourable member and Tambudze family.
The unfounded report which was virally circulated on social media recently, and bearing a blind by-line, falsely stated that Hon. Tshuma was aggrieved by losing a court case on a land wrangle involving him (Tshuma) and the now deceased.
For the record, there was never a wrangle, real or imagined, or any court case over land between the two parties.
The fact of the matter, the source said, is that the land in question was procedurally and formally bought. Payment was arranged as a fifty percent deposit and the balance planned for six months later.
After being paid for in full, it was subsequently transferred to Hon. Tshuma through a real estate company called Ebenezer back in 2016.
According to the source, all necessary documentation was done and the transfer completed in the presence of the former land owners’ lawyer (name supplied), who is also a renowned property rights expert.
The source, preferring anonymity said, they were originally a consortium of 12 individuals who owned the 2.7ha property.
When he bought it, Hon. Tshuma is said to have met with a team of four directors from the company that previously owned that land, including Tambudze.
The source said that is the only time Hon. Tshuma directly interacted with the pharmacist.
Some four years ago, his son Leslie is said to have called Hon. Tshuma, then a mere businessman, on a different subject that they discussed and finished as Leslie was only consulting. After that, no other connection could be traced to the Tambudze family, neither was there any friction between them and Hon. Tshuma.
The MP is said to have gone on to acquire another piece of land coincidentally, close to Tambudze business in the heavy industry area of Kadoma, without any brushes between the two.
Asked on how the other former directors responded to the latest report implicating Hon. Tshuma, the source said two of those questioned raised eyebrows on the veracity of the allegations as they proved that the land sale was completed a long time ago.
He said they wondered if Hon. Tshuma and Tambudze had any other issues besides the land quoted in the story.
Further, the source revealed that there was never any court case involving the land in question, save to say word has it that some people could not stomach Hon. Tshuma purchasing that prime piece of land.
After Hon. Tshuma realized the upmarket value of the land, he decided to develop rather than dispose of it,” the source avered.
A lady at the real estate company that facilitated the transaction said after Hon. Tshuma bought the land, they received a flurry of enquiries on the land. She said they, as a company, were even surprised as the land had gone for years without a taker.
Some people, it is said, think that these were two pieces of land not knowing that Hon. Tshuma acquired the whole lot that he is developing in phases.
The source said the current owner initially wanted to develop it in three phases but has reduced that to only two sections.
The first phase with a mall and Spencer Fuels Service Station is now up and running while he is developing the second one.
Asked on how Hon. Tshuma has received the allegations, the source said.
“Hon. Tshuma is one man who minds his own business and does not involve himself in other people’s affairs. He is a businessman who wants to make as many friends for the benefit of his business ventures. Some even go to the extent of implying that the ventures are not his, at the same time name dropping higher offices, overtures that he rubbishes as baseless.”
