Hotel group praises domestic tourism

RED Apple Hotels, which runs the iconic Brondesbury Park Hotel Nyanga, has lauded domestic tourism in Zimbabwe, saying local tourists are keeping its businesses going, as they complement international tourists.
Government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, has been on a drive to promote the country’s tourism sites to citizens and has rolled out campaigns which sought to endorse local tourism and encourage locals to explore the rich cultural and natural heritage of the country of their homeland.
Nyasha Makanza, the Brondesbury general manager, said the efforts by Government and players in the local tourism sector to woe the domestic market is paying off.
“The statistics clearly indicate that more Zimbabweans are visiting their own tourist attractions and are getting to know their country.
“As a player in the hospitality industry, we are immensely benefitting from this noble initiative,” Makanza said.
Makanza said hotels under the Red Apple banner are coming up with packages that are tailor-made for the local market.
“We appreciate the local market for standing with us even during the Covid-19 pandemic. We have since come up with discounted packages for locals as a way of thanking them for standing with us,” she said.
The iconic hotel has since launched an “I Love Zimbabwe, I Love Nyanga” low season promotion, targeting domestic tourists. The promotion is offering a 50 percent discount for locals.
Nestled in the heart of Nyanga, the hotel offers a serene escape surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, lush greenery, and crisp mountain air.
Nyanga is a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers, with the Nyanga National Park being home to stunning waterfalls, scenic hiking trails and ancient rock formations.
Mount Inyangani, Zimbabwe’s highest peak, offers challenging hikes and panoramic views. The Pungwe, Nyangombe and Mutarazi falls are some of the country’s most spectacular waterfalls.
Apart from the falls, Nyanga is also pregnant with a rich history and traditions, with the Nyanga Terraces and the Chawomera Fort being major attractions.
