BEITBRIDGE MAN’S US$71,000 ROBBERY STORY HAS ZIMBABWEANS GIVING HIM BOMBASTIC SIDE EYES

A 34-year-old man from Beitbridge is facing suspicion after claiming to have lost his employer’s US$71,000, which was meant to be delivered to an agent in Harare. Zimbabweans are giving him bombastic side eyes over his story.

 

According to a notice published on X by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) National Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the unnamed man lost the money in Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, on Sunday, 6 April. Commissioner Nyathi said the man was attacked by an unidentified suspect who was armed with a pistol.

 

The suspect allegedly fired one shot while demanding cash, and the Beitbridge man handed over a bag which contained all the money. Police have since launched an investigation into the matter. Commissioner Nyathi said:

 

“The ZRP is investigating a case of robbery which occurred in Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, on April 6. A 34-year-old man was robbed of US$ 71,120 company money, which was meant to be delivered to the company’s agent in Harare. The complainant was attacked by an unidentified suspect who was armed with a pistol. The suspect fired one shot while demanding cash and was handed over a bag containing the money.”
