Prison officer in sodomy storm

A Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) officer has been brought before the courts to face charges of allegedly committing an act of sodomy upon a 14-year-old boy.

The officer, whose identity cannot be disclosed to safeguard that of the victim, is stationed at Khami Prison Complex, situated on the outskirts of Bulawayo.

The accused, who is 36 years old, is alleged to have coerced the young victim into viewing pornography prior to the act of sodomy.

Representing the prosecution, Mr Milton Moyo stated that the incident is alleged to have taken place on 8th April this year.

“The accused and the complainant are strangers to each other. On 8th April 2025, at around 1600 hours, the accused invited the complainant near Sizalendaba School.

After the meeting, they watched pornographic material. Thereafter, the accused sodomised the complainant,” said Mr Moyo.

It was then that the complainant’s mother phoned and instructed him to come home as she suspected something was amiss.

“Upon arrival, he confessed. The complainant was taken to Mpilo Hospital for medical examination, which will be produced in court as evidence,” Mr Moyo said.

The suspect appeared before Mrs Sibongile Marondedze, who remanded the matter to April 25. The Chronicle
