Kadoma businesswoman killed in suspected ritual murder

A Kadoma businesswoman, who runs a shop at Mateketa Complex, was killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday in a case of suspected ritual murder.

The assailants fled from the scene after being approached by a man from a nearby house who heard the woman screaming during the attack.

They left a bucketful of water, dry leaves, cut lemons and three grass brooms.

When the man went to investigate, he heard the voice of a woman and several men.

The woman dissuaded him from approaching, saying they were taking a bath, but he was adamant, and they fled the scene.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm a case of murder which happened on April 23 2025, around 9 pm in Kadoma in a grassy area across Jason Moyo Road,” he said.

Investigations showed that the now deceased was half-naked and lying face down when law enforcement details arrived at the scene.

She was lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the left side of the head, shoulder and left wrist.

A male blue and red boxer short was found underneath the deceased’s body, while on her side was a blue bucket with water, some dried leaves, pieces of white tissues, three half lemons and two new grass brooms among other items.

The body was taken to Kadoma General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Police are appealing for information that could lead to the identification of the deceased. The Herald
