World Vision Donates Medical Equipment to Strengthen Kadoma Public Health Systems

Kadoma-World Vision Zimbabwe has boosted Kadoma City’s healthcare response capacity after handing over medical equipments and kits to the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) housed at Pamela House.

The donation was officially presented by Melanie Assauer, Director for Resource Development and Donor Engagement at World Vision, together with Mr Bhekimpilo Sithole, Health and Nutrition Technical Advisor at World Vision Zimbabwe, and their team.

This latest support follows a recent visit by Kristin Gänsicke, Manager for International Programs at World Vision Deutschland e.V.,who recently toured the Kadoma PHEOC to assess the impact of the Aktion Deutschland Hilft-funded Strengthening Health Emergency Preparedness, Response and Resilience Project. During her visit, Gänsicke was briefed on how the city has put the centre to effective use, including coordinating a swift response to a recent bedbug outbreak.

Impressed by the progress, Gänsicke applauded Kadoma City for its commitment and leadership.

“I am impressed by the consistency and sense of ownership shown by the City of Kadoma in managing the PHEOC. It is inspiring to see how local leadership is embracing this initiative and ensuring it truly serves the community,” she said.

Receiving the equipment the Deputy Mayor and Management team,Alderman Michael Mvura expressed gratitude on behalf of Kadoma City.

“It is my singular honour and privilege to welcome you all to this important occasion. Today we gather to witness the official handover of medical equipments and kits by World Vision Zimbabwe to Kadoma City. This generous contribution comes at a time when strengthening our public health services is a priority. On behalf of the City of Kadoma and its residents, I express my sincere gratitude,” he said.

Alderman Mvura further noted that the donation would support frontline health workers, save lives, and reinforce the city’s capacity to respond to public health emergencies. He acknowledged the role of Dr Daniel Chirundu, Kadoma City Health Director, whose leadership has been central to the centre’s effectiveness.

Also speaking at the event, District Development Coordinator Mr Amigo Mhlanga hailed World Vision’s continued partnership with local authorities.

“This contribution will undoubtedly enhance our healthcare services and benefit the community. We appreciate World Vision’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of our people. Your partnership and support are invaluable in our efforts to develop and uplift our district,” he said.
The donation highlights the ongoing collaboration between Kadoma City and World Vision in strengthening public health preparedness and resilience, ensuring the PHEOC remains a cornerstone in safeguarding community health.
