VP urges equitable distribution of national wealth
MUTARE — Vice President and Zanu PF Second Secretary, Retired General Constantino Chiwenga, has called on the ruling party’s leadership to safeguard the equitable distribution of the nation’s resources, stressing that prosperity must be shared across all levels of society.
Addressing delegates at the 22nd Zanu PF National People’s Conference at Mutare Polytechnic, Chiwenga said the party’s enduring mandate was to build “a people-centred economy that empowers every Zimbabwean and ensures that our national wealth benefits all — not just a privileged few.”
He emphasised that authentic empowerment required “equipping all our people with the means to produce, innovate and own our destiny,” adding that the party’s vision must remain anchored in inclusivity and accountability.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of liberation heroes, Chiwenga urged unity of purpose and fidelity to the founding values of the revolution. “We are not the Alpha and Omega of Zimbabwe’s journey. Ours is to carry forward the torch passed to us by those who gave everything without expectation of reward,” he said.
