The Supreme Court has dismissed presidential aspirant Saviour Kasukuwere’s application, arguing that it lacks merit.

The self-exiled former Cabinet minister had appealed against a ruling of the High Court barring him from contesting the August 23 Presidential election.

This comes as Zanu PF member, Lovedale Mangwana had successfully applied at the High Court to have Kasukuwere’s name removed from the list of presidential contestants on the grounds that his name could not be on the voters’ roll as he had been absent from the country for a period beyond 18 months.

The former Local Government minister then appealed the High Court ruling at the Supreme Court, which said reasons for dismissing the appeal will be availed in due course.
