Scottland FC to build a 20,000-seater stadium
Scottland FC is pushing forward with ambitious infrastructure and community projects.
The champions recently announced plans to construct a 20,000-seater CAF-certified stadium in Mabvuku, a US$30 million investment aimed at establishing a permanent home for the club. Club chairman Everson Chatambudza said the project will eliminate the need to rent venues and represent a landmark moment in domestic football development.
“We are building the home of football, right where we were born,” Chatambudza said during a function unveiling the club’s new kit and players. “Over and above the stadium in Mabvuku, we are developing our Ruwa facilities, valued at US$15 million, as world-class training grounds where champions are made.”
The combined investments in the Mabvuku stadium and Ruwa facilities, alongside sponsorship commitments of US$10 million for the season, position Scottland FC on course for a valuation of over US$60 million. The club has also received 40 operational vehicles to support logistics.
Beyond football, Chatambudza emphasised the club’s commitment to its local community in Mabvuku and Tafara. The Scottland Medical Centre, the club’s clinic, treated over 70,000 patients free of charge last year, offering check-ups, treatments, and ambulance services. Plans are underway to build a massive hospital to expand healthcare services in the area.
“Football is not just about what happens on the pitch. It is about the community that breathes life into the club,” Chatambudza said. “This is our Corporate Social Responsibility. This is our promise.”
With the stadium groundbreaking scheduled for mid-March, Scottland FC is poised to set a new benchmark for football infrastructure and community engagement in Zimbabwe. *_-Bulawayo_*
