“I sold human blood to prophets” — Guruve serial killer Anymore Zvitsva’s horrific confession to First Lady

Accused Guruve serial killer Anymore Zvitsva has made a chilling confession to First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, admitting that he sold human blood to self-styled prophets and mutilated female victims by cutting off their breasts to sell to miners for ritual purposes.

The 33-year-old, who now faces 25 counts of murder, opened up about the dark supernatural forces that drove him to commit acts of cannibalism and trade in human body parts during an unprecedented face-to-face meeting at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

Seated in a wheelchair inside the country’s most secure prison facility, Zvitsva did not hold back as the First Lady pressed him on the gruesome details of his year-long killing spree across Guruve and Mvurwi.

Dr Mnangagwa, who had earlier visited traumatised families in Guruve, where some homes now stand abandoned, sought to understand the mind of a man accused of being one of Zimbabwe’s most prolific serial killers.

When asked about the shocking trade in human body parts, Zvitsva openly named the recipients of his grisly transactions.

“There is one woman I killed and gave the blood to a prophet who gave me US$200 (approximately R3,700). I don’t know what he wanted to use it for,” Zvitsva confessed.

He further revealed that he supplied human breasts to a local miner who believed they could boost gold production. The accused killer identified Nathan Churweni as the recipient of the mutilated body parts.

“The breasts I gave to Nathan Churweni, who said he would give me my money when he came back from Mozambique, but that never materialised after he heard that police were looking for me,” Zvitsva told the visibly shaken First Lady.

Zvitsva also confessed to supplying blood to two other self-styled prophets he named as Junioius Kasinauyo and Gidza Dhorobha, allegations that police are now actively investigating as they probe the existence of a wider syndicate involved in ritual killings and body parts trading.

In revelations that sent shockwaves through the prison visiting room, Zvitsva described in graphic detail how he would burn his victims’ body parts and mix the ashes with cooking oil to use as lotion.

He believed this macabre ritual, combined with tree roots he claimed had been revealed to him in dreams, would grant him supernatural powers of fortune-telling.

“So each time I would use the ashes, even when I was asleep, I could foretell what was to befall me. Even if you have money in your house, I would predict where it is hidden,” Zvitsva claimed.

The accused killer admitted that he even used some of the human ashes to construct a shop, driven by the delusion that such acts would bring him wealth. He told the First Lady that he had hoped to make more money through these dark rituals, but the shop was later destroyed.

Police have confirmed that investigations into ritual killings and body parts trading are ongoing, with Commissioner Paul Nyathi previously stating that detectives are following leads suggesting Zvitsva may have had accomplices.

The arrest of his 107-year-old grandmother Emma, believed by community members to be his spiritual protector, came just days before his capture following guidance from traditional spirit mediums.

The First Lady, seeking to understand how an ordinary man could descend into such brutality, asked Zvitsva to recount how his killing spree began in 2024. He explained that his first murder happened during what he initially intended to be a simple theft of food.

“It’s hard for me to understand how I started this, but what I still remember is that I was hungry and went to break into a home searching for food. I ended up stealing about 10 kilogrammes of mealie-meal,” he recounted.

After the homeowner confronted him with an axe, Zvitsva panicked and stabbed her. That first killing, he said, opened the door to darkness that would never close.

“According to my own thinking, the evil spirit started after my first killing and never left me,” Zvitsva confessed.

Court records show that between April 2024 and December 2025, Zvitsva allegedly terrorised communities across Guruve and Mvurwi, attacking victims in their homes, fields and grazing areas under cover of darkness . He used an arsenal of weapons, including knives, machetes, spears, axes and snare wire, to strangle his victims.

One of the most harrowing incidents occurred on December 14, 2025, when Zvitsva allegedly stabbed five of his own relatives to death at Ona Farm after breaking into two sleeping quarters armed with a knife and spear. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that victims included Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (5), Tatenda Chirenje (2) and Tendai Zvitsva (40) .

The accused killer described to the First Lady how he managed to evade capture for months by walking barefoot, avoiding roads and hiding in mountainous terrain. He would move like a wild animal, always concealed and carrying traditional weapons similar to those depicted in photographs of spirit mediums such as Mbuya Nehanda.

“I would never walk openly, I would make sure I was hiding always like someone trying to catch a wild animal,” Zvitsva explained.

His capture on January 3, 2026, came after a prolonged manhunt involving drone technology, canine units and horseback patrols.

According to information published in The Herald, spirit mediums from the Soko Wafawanaka clan gathered for an overnight session and declared that Zvitsva’s time was up. He was arrested hardly two days later, hiding in a garden.

The arrest of his 107-year-old grandmother Emma, described as the “spiritual power behind him,” preceded his capture by less than 48 hours. She remains in police custody as investigations continue.

As the unprecedented meeting drew to a close, Zvitsva turned to the First Lady with a plea for mercy. In a dramatic appeal broadcast across the nation, the man accused of 25 murders begged for forgiveness from the families he had destroyed and the country he had terrorised.

“I am Anymore Zvitsva from Guruve. I committed heinous crimes. I killed women, children and other men. May you have mercy for all my wrongdoings,” he pleaded.

“I am trying to understand how I ended up doing these things. To all the families I wronged, may you please find it in your hearts to forgive me. Even to you, First Lady, His Excellency the President and the entire nation, I am sorry for my deeds. Find it in your hearts to forgive me.”

When Dr Mnangagwa asked what suitable ruling he thought he deserved considering the magnitude of his crimes, Zvitsva deferred to the courts.

“I have nothing to say. It is up to the State, which knows,” he said.

Court records indicate that Zvitsva now faces 25 counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, two counts of rape and one combined charge of rape and attempted murder. The State continues to add more charges as investigations progress, with five additional murder charges laid during his most recent court appearance. *_-iHarare_*
