Gutu opposition activist reported for ‘insulting’ Mnangagwa
Prominent opposition activist, Wilson Runánga has been reported at Gutu Police Station on allegations of insulting President Mnangagwa.
Runánga is accused of insulting or undermining the authority of the President by saying that Mnangagwa is clinging to power in a WhatsApp group. He is also alleged to have said allowing Tshabangu to recall MPs is causing a lot of suffering in Zimbabwe.
Although Runánga has not been formally summoned by Police over the allegations, he spent the Easter holidays in hiding after unknown people visited his home at Mpandawana looking for him.
Masvingo Mirror has a copy of the Police report made by one Victor Musarurwa aged 29 of 3257 Old Location in Gutu. According to the report RRB 6776506 made on March 28, 2026, Musarurwa is a member of the Central Intelligence.
“Are you aware that there are people insisting that Mnangagwa, despite failing to run the country, wants to cling to power? Are you aware that forcing Tshabangu to recall MPs contributed to the country’s continued suffering?” read the message.
Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said he has not yet seen the report. *_-Masvingo Mirror_*
