Suspects appear in court on Christmas Day

WITH many taking time to celebrate Christmas Day with loved ones, it was a different story for those who had a brush with the law as they had their day in court this Christmas.

One would think courts of law would be closed for Christmas Day, but it seems they are forced to open to accommodate those who would have been arrested.

This Christmas most of the suspects who appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court were facing charges of robbery.

Some of the accused persons include Tawanda Magwaza, who allegedly attacked a woman in the Harare Central Business District and stole US$20.

Anyway Watengwa was also among the accused persons who were charged with robbery after allegedly hitting the complainant with an iron bar before stealing from him.

Talent Manzungu allegedly broke into a house armed with knives and allegedly threatened to kill the occupant.

Manzungu allegedly stole one bottle of whisky, three wine bottles and US$160.

All the accused persons will spend the Christmas Holiday in remand prison, pending their bail applications.
