Bar owner robbed and raped in Dangamvura
POLICE in Dangamvura are investigating a case in which a bar owner in the high density suburb was recently raped and robbed by an unknown assailant.
Police confirmed the incident which happened on April 16 around 10pm.
It is alleged that on the day in question, the bar owner was at her workplace when she closed the bar and locked herself inside.
The complainant alleged that an unknown male adult entered the bar using the back door, and was brandishing a knife. He was wearing a mask.
Police said the intruder demanded cash, and the complainant led him to the counter where the cashbox was.
He allegedly took US$380, leaving 340 South African rands and US$10 that was in US$1 denominations.
It is alleged that the accused person force-marched the complainant towards the door, and told her that he wanted to sleep with her.
“The accused person is said to have taken a shoelace from his pair of trousers and tied the complainant’s hands from the front. He raped the complainant once. He went into the bar and grabbed a bottle of Viceroy brandy. He went back where the complainant was and raped her again.
“The suspect went into the bar again and took two six-packs of Savanna Dry ciders, two six packs of Hunters Dry ciders, one Gold Blend whisky and one Chateau brandy as well as a A16 cellphone which was connected to the charger. The suspect untied the complainant on his way out,” said the police in a statement.
The complainant went and made a report at Dangamvura Police Station, and was referred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for medical examination.
The rapist is still at large and a manhunt has been launched for him.
