Chivayo: VP Chiwenga Used My Rolls-Royces For Free At His Wedding
Wicknell Chivayo has said Vice President Constantino Chiwenga used his fleet of Rolls-Royces for free at his wedding ceremony, describing the VP as “my father”.
Chiwenga and Miniyothabo “Minnie” Baloyi held their high-profile “white wedding” on 23 December 2023.
Speaking in an interview with Capitalk100.4FM, Chivayo claimed he was approached by “someone from his office” who wanted to hire the luxury cars for the Vice President. He said he refused to accept payment.
“I said, please tell the Vice President that he is my father. He is the vice president of the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Vice President of ZANU-PF. So he’s not going to pay a cent for my cars, and he can have them for as many days as he wants,” Chivayo said.
Chivayo offered six cars, saying: “Six cars, madam. Come pick up… These are the cars.”
He dismissed online claims of a rift between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and VP Chiwenga, insisting the two are “one close family”.
“They will share the same cup. They love each other,” he said. “The internet tries to divide them… But body language should tell. Even at the airport. Have you seen how he speaks to the VP… They are very close.”
His comments come amid ongoing speculation about tensions within ZANU-PF, reportedly worsened by the current constitutional amendment process aimed at extending President Mnangagwa’s stay in office.
