MUTARE — Church and civic leaders are set to gather at Moffat Hall in Mutare tomorrow for the Together For All Trust’s National Church and Civic Legislative Engagement on the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill, CAB3.
The forum will take place on 7 May 2026 at 09:00 AM, bringing together faith representatives, academics, and civil society to discuss the implications of the proposed constitutional changes for Zimbabwe’s governance and development trajectory.
The engagement will be hosted by Rev Laiza Bati and will feature Mrs. Ellen Mwale, President of TFA Trust, alongside Dr. Abigale Mupambi, a political scientist, with Prof. Talent Rusere attending as Guest of Honour. Discussions are expected to focus on how CAB3 aligns with national priorities under Vision 2030 and the role of both church and civic actors in shaping legislative processes.
Ahead of the meeting, participants have highlighted the growing role of civic organizations in amplifying public awareness and debate around CAB3. Several groups across the country are increasingly engaging communities to explain the Bill’s provisions and its potential impact on policy continuity, institutional stability, and national development planning.
“This is not just a parliamentary matter anymore,” Dr. Mupambi said. “Civic organizations are now stepping in to ensure that the conversation reaches grassroots level, so citizens understand how constitutional amendments connect to their daily lives and to Zimbabwe’s long-term goals.”
The event will be held under the theme “Working Together For A Better Zimbabwe,” reflecting TFA Trust’s mandate to foster inclusive dialogue between religious institutions and civil society on matters of national interest.
