Dynamos not strong enough — Admits Mangombe after Herentals draw extends winless streak
Dynamos FC coach Genesis Mangombe has expressed concern over his side’s continued failure to collect maximum points after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Herentals FC in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Rufaro Stadium on Thursday.
The result extended DeMbare’s winless run to six matches, piling further pressure on the Glamour Boys.
Dynamos last tasted victory on April 21 when they edged Simba Bhora 1-0. Since then, they have managed four draws and suffered two defeats, leaving them struggling to keep pace with the frontrunners in the title race.
Speaking after the match, Mangombe admitted his squad may be lacking the quality and mental strength required to cope with the demands of the league.
“Yeah, we also have to look at the arsenal we have and, when playing games week in, week out with the players we have, determine if they can work under pressure and in tight situations,” said Mangombe.
“Some of these games are always difficult and they require guys with character.
“But the bottom line is we need to work hard so that we start collecting maximum points in our next assignments.”
Despite salvaging a point against Herentals, Dynamos slipped two places on the league table, dropping from seventh to ninth position with 18 points, eight adrift of log leaders CAPS United.
The latest setback adds to growing concerns over Dynamos’ inconsistency this season, with the club struggling to convert promising performances into victories.
Mangombe and his charges will have little time to regroup as they prepare for another crucial league assignment against Triangle United on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium, where pressure will be mounting to end their disappointing run. *_-NewZimbabwe_*
