MT PLEASANT MAN LOSES US$870,000 IN FAKE LAND DEAL

A MOUNT Pleasant man lost US$870,000 in a fake stand deal. Sean Nyawo, 32, claims he was duped by Shepherd Chizani, of Westgate.

He claims he was shown fake documents of Lot Number 40, Hatfield Estates, measuring 5.7 acres, deeds transfer number 561/69, sometime in August last year.

Nyawo paid a deposit of US$50,000 to Chizani, who claimed he was representing Rupert Investment (Pvt) Ltd, who are the owners of the land.

On August 22, last year, Nyawo paid another US$630,000.

He then paid US$190,000 on September 24.

On March 18, this year, Nyawo proceeded to Lot number 40 in Hatfield to do some physical developments.

He was approached by an unnamed individual, who said he was a representative of Rupert Investments.

The man produced original title deeds, which showed that the land was not sold to anyone.

That is when Nyawi realised that he had been duped by Chizani.

He filed a police report.
It emerged that all the documents, which were used by Chizani in their transaction, were all fraudulent.
He did not have the authority from Rupert Investments to sell the land.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, could not be reached for comment.

However, H-Metro is reliably informed that the case is now under investigations at Marlborough Police Station under RRB 6780926.
