Why do you want Chamisa to organize demonstrations. “Siyayi mwana akadaro”, says Killer Zivhu

Controversial Zanu PF official Killer Zivhu has broken ranks with hardline party loyalists, coming to the defence of Citizens Coalition for Change leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa on Thursday and questioning the push for him to lead street protests.

Zivhu took to social media to challenge those demanding action from Chamisa, arguing that responsibility cannot be dumped on one man while ordinary citizens stay silent.

“Why do you want Chamisa to organize demonstrations? Why not do it yourselves?” Zivhu wrote.

He then turned to the plight of political detainees, referencing Madzibaba Ishmael who is currently in remand prison. Zivhu said the activist has been abandoned by the same people calling for protests.

“Madzibaba is in remand prison alone. No one is visiting him or sending food to his family. You’re happy to see Chamisa in leg irons,” he said.

The Zanu PF Central Committee member warned against celebrating Chamisa’s legal troubles, saying political persecution would eventually catch up with everyone.

“Siyayi mwana akadaro, yake nguva ichakwana, Mwari havamwi castle lite” Zivhu posted, using a Shona proverb that means “leave that child alone, his time will come, God does not drink Castle Lite.”

Zivhu’s remarks are unusual given his reputation as a staunch Zanu PF defender. His comments come as Chamisa continues to face pressure from both supporters demanding mass action and a government accused of using the courts to clip his political influence.

The statement has sparked debate online, with some praising Zivhu for “speaking truth to power” while others accused him of trying to appear moderate ahead of future political realignments.
