Black Rhinos, one of the MCM Northern Region Division One League title contenders dropped two valuable points after they were held to a nil-all draw against struggling Marere at Rimuka Stadium on Sunday.
Chipembere endured a frustrating afternoon after Marere employed an ultra defence system and very good goalkeeping, by lanky Leniency Bhudhiyo, in goals for the hosts.
Rhinos dominated from the kick-off and were unlucky not score in the 2nd minute when McDonald Zowa’s long shot outside the box was saved by Leniency Bhudhiyo, in goals for Marere.
Rhinos, displaying their strong attacking prowess and their strikers creating numerous chances unfortunately were unable to convert them into goals.
In the second half despite Chipembere coach, Thomas Chinyan’nya (pictured) making some tactical changes in the offensive, Rhinos failed to breach the Marere defence, which was marshalled by much travelled Rueben Machaya, in an unyielding position.
In the 78th minute, Rhinos was gifted a golden chance after a mistake by Marere left back, Alpha Dube found unmarked Ignatius Mavende, who came face to face with Bhudhiyo but his shot went straight into the hands of Bhudhiyo, with Rhinos bench up anticipating a goal, only for Marere keeper to make another fine save, further frustrating Chipembere
Chinyan’nya, the Black Rhinos coach, rued the chances his charges made.
“I’m not happy with the results despite creating numerous chances, but my boys played well, Marere managed to defend well, but such is football,”said Chinyan’nya.
With Chinyan’nya ruing missed chances Marere coach, Beknown Mhlaingena was happy with picking up a point from Black Rhinos.
“I know the fans, the owners and the players what they’re feeling whenever we’re playing at Rimuka Stadium, they need maximum points, the opponent we were facing today is a seasoned team with vast experience in Premiership and Division One,so picking up a point from them is very good!”said Mhlaingena.
