A Gift From Across the Seas: Windfall for St Peters Gospel Apostolic Church – Sungano

There is a sound of rejoicing in Musungwa Village. At St Peters Gospel Apostolic Church – Sungano, in Jekwa under Mukarakate, the people of God are dancing. A timely donation of $3,000.00 has arrived enough to begin the long-awaited completion of the church roof.

For too long, the congregation has gathered within walls that opened to the sky. When the rains fell, they fell on the worshippers. When the sun beat down, it beat down on the faithful. The building stood as a symbol of faith unfinished a people determined, yet exposed.

Then, one picture changed everything.

A Picture That Crossed Borders

When a photograph of the unfinished roofing was shared in an article, it did not stay in one place. It travelled over oceans, beyond borders, until it reached the heart of a son living in the United States.

Prof. Moses Rumano saw the image and was moved with compassion. Without hesitation, he donated $3,000.00 towards roofing materials and labour. It was the kind of response that echoes through Scripture: a heart stirred by a need, a hand opened to meet it.

This act of generosity came soon after the church hosted a well-attended Sungano yeMweya Mutsvene gathering in Murehwa — as if heaven itself were orchestrating the next chapter.

A Mother’s Testimony

Amai Archbishop Mandioneyi Rumano, crying with joy, described the donation as divine intervention:

“I have seen the hand of God. Through this donation, our church roofing will be finished. For too long, our children and elders sat under the sun and rain, but today, God has sent a helper. This is not just bricks and iron sheets — this is dignity, this is shelter, this is a place where the Word can be preached without fear of the weather. May the Lord remember Prof. Moses and his household,” she said.

“When one gives to the poor, it is like lending to the Lord, and the Lord will repay,” she added, quoting Proverbs 19:17.

Amai Archbishop Mandioneyi has walked with the church through seasons of lack. Her heart, like that of a mother, has carried the pain of seeing the flock exposed. She has prayed, fasted, and interceded for a covering over God’s people. This gift is an answer to her prayers and to the prayers of many mothers in Musungwa Village.

‘The Hand of the Living God Is Hovering’

Archbishop Cananan Rumano, speaking with heartfelt thanks on behalf of the church, said:

“My young brother, based in the USA, saw an article with a picture of our church with unfinished roofing, and this immediately moved and touched his heart to donate three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) towards the completion of the church.”

He added that the provision came at precisely the right time, as the church prepares for the hot summer season.

“The hand of the living God is hovering over the Church,” he said.

Voices of Gratitude From the Flock

Mr. and Mrs. Mukundi, a relieved couple from the congregation, said:

“We express our deepest gratitude to Prof. Moses Rumano. No more worries about scorching sunlight, winds, and rainfall. God has remembered us.”

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures,” they added, citing Psalm 23:1–2.

Secretary General Bishop Blessing Chisambiro – Mutoko said:

“I weigh in to thank Prof. for this timely donation. God sends help exactly when we need it most.”

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God,” he said, quoting Philippians 4:6.

National Treasurer Mellenia Magore said with emotion:

“Lifted from deep waters. I am running out of words. May the Lord bless Prof. Moses and his family abundantly. He lifted me out of the slimy pit as Treasurer, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand,” she said, referencing Psalm 40:2.

“When we as the church were stuck, God lifted us through the kindness of Prof. Rumano,” she added.

Evangelist Bishop Chiveto – HQ Branch, Glen View, Harare, said:

“I add my voice in thanking Prof. for this donation. This is seed that will feed generations.”

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed,” he said, quoting Proverbs 11:25.

Spiritual Captain Stephen Mofowera – Lalapanzi said:“We are thanking God for this wonderful donation. May God add more years to Prof. and bring restoration to his house.”

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus,” he added, citing Philippians 4:19.

A Promise Now Covered

The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:19: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

That promise is now taking shape — beam by beam, sheet by sheet. With this windfall, work on the roof can proceed. Soon, the people of God in Musungwa will lift their voices under a complete shelter, no longer at the mercy of the elements.

From Unfinished to Finished

The donation directly answers years of prayer. With roofing materials now secured, the church will be able to shelter children, elders, and worshippers in dignity, a house fit for God’s presence.

Prof. Moses Rumano’s act reflects the very heart of service: building not just structures but people.

The Word reminds us in Galatians 6:9:

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Prof. Moses Rumano did not grow weary. He saw a need, far from his home, and he acted.

A Word to You, Dear Reader

Let this story speak to your heart. Someone, somewhere, is waiting for a roof over their head. Waiting for a door to open. Waiting for a hand extended in love.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” — Matthew 25:40.

We thank God for Prof. Moses Rumano and for every heart that supports the work of the Lord. May this gift inspire many more. And may the roof that rises in Musungwa stand as a witness — not only of iron and timber, but of love that crossed the sea and landed exactly where heaven intended.

From the outside looking in, it was only a picture. From the inside looking up, it was a miracle.
