Harare teacher jailed 20 years for sodomising pupil
A sports director at Allan Wilson Boys High School in Harare has been jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of sodomising a 17-year-old pupil.
Innocent Kashiri, 45, who was living in a cottage at the school, was convicted of aggravated indecent assault by Harare regional magistrate Jessie Kufa.
Prosecutor Shiela Mpindu proved that sometime in 2023, Kashiri produced a letter at the school office purportedly written by headmaster Tafara Zhou, authorising him to have anal sex with the complainant.
Out of fear, and on the strength of the letter, the complainant complied and was sodomised once.
The complainant later told his science teacher, Susan Sibanda, who advised him to report the matter to the police. A report was filed on 19 June 2026.
