Renowned journalist Simba Sithole’s Birthday Bash Turns Glendale Club OO7 Into Night of Celebration

HARARE — Veteran journalist and Bulawayo24 News reporter Simbarashe Sithole marked his birthday in grand style on Friday night, turning Glendale Club OO7 in Glendale into a hive of music, laughter and celebration.
The birthday bash, which started at around 8pm on Friday, September 25, stretched into the early hours of Saturday, with a stellar line-up of artistes keeping the packed venue alive throughout the night.
Beyond the music, food and entertainment, the celebration was a strong show of friendship, family and solidarity within Zimbabwe’s journalism fraternity.
The event was hosted by renowned Mashonaland Central traditional healer Sekuru Nyangatanani, who went all out to ensure Sithole and his guests enjoyed a memorable night.
Sekuru Nyangatanani bought a large beast which was slaughtered and prepared for guests, turning the birthday into a feast that brought people together in fellowship.
Sithole arrived accompanied by his wife and their two children. A number of his journalist colleagues travelled from Harare to join the celebrations, including Kundai Marunywa of The Patriot and Regis Chingawu, among other friends and well-wishers.
The presence of journalists from different media houses gave the occasion an added sense of camaraderie, as colleagues put aside the pressures of the newsroom to celebrate one of their own.
The entertainment programme kept the party going deep into the night, with artistes taking turns on stage to ensure the energy never dropped.
For Sithole, the occasion was more than a birthday party. It was an opportunity to celebrate life, family, friendship and the relationships built over years in journalism.
The celebration also highlighted the generosity of Nyangatanani, who is known for assisting disadvantaged families and supporting underprivileged schoolchildren through donations of stationery and payment of school fees. He has also travelled extensively, including to China, India and several SADC countries.
Speaking during the celebrations, Nyangatanani said Sithole’s birthday was an occasion to celebrate not only the journalist but the people and relationships around him.
“A birthday is not only about adding another year to someone’s life. It is about celebrating the journey, the people who have walked with you and the lives you have touched along the way. Today we are celebrating Simba because he is one of our own, and we wish him more years, good health, success and greater achievements,” Nyangatanani said.
The remarks captured the mood of the evening as guests danced and shared memories while musicians carried the celebrations into the early hours of Saturday.
For members of the journalism fraternity, the gathering was a reminder of the human side of the profession — that behind deadlines and breaking news are friendships and bonds that deserve to be celebrated.
As the night stretched towards dawn, Glendale Club OO7 remained alive with music, bringing a memorable birthday chapter for Sithole to a fitting close.
