Mbare Drama: Thigh Vendor Walks Away With Coffin After Client Fails to Pay US$5
A dramatic scene unfolded in Mbare after a commercial thigh vendor took matters into her own hands—literally—by seizing a coffin from a hardware shop as compensation for an unpaid US$5.
Dealer’s Deception Leads to Bizarre Payback
The man at the center of the controversy, identified as King Joshua, reportedly misled the woman by claiming he was a manager at Ozei Hardware shop. Using the store as a makeshift love nest, he engaged in a transaction with the thigh vendor but failed to pay the agreed amount.
Coffin as Compensation
In retaliation, the woman took a coffin worth US$60 from the hardware store, drawing a large crowd as she walked away with her unusual form of payment.
Security guards, who were on night duty, captured the incident on video and shared it on social media, where it quickly went viral.
Hardware Shop Owner Reacts
Ozei, the legitimate owner of the hardware shop, expressed shock upon learning that his premises had been used for such activities.
“I was phoned by the police at around 11 PM, asking who was at my hardware shop,” Ozei told H-Metro.
He accused King Joshua of repeatedly bringing women into the shop under false pretenses.
“Joshua had been hooking up ladies of the night and bringing them into my hardware shop, all behind my back. I now suspect one of the coffins I lost last year may have disappeared the same way,” he added.
Dismissing the woman’s reaction, he commented,
“Mukadzi wacho anenge ane mupengo zvake nekuti haangatakure coffin nekuda kwe five dollars,” meaning, “That woman must be crazy to carry a coffin just because of five dollars.”
