Kadoma City Council management and employees converged at Rimuka Stadium on Wednesday for the council’s weekly Wednesday Sports Day, a programme aimed at promoting health and wellness among workers.
The initiative, which has become a standing feature on the council calendar, sees both management and staff stepping away from their desks to participate in various sporting activities.
Council Sports and Education Coordinator, Jabulani Chimtali, said the events were designed to keep employees fit and motivated.
“We do this each and every Wednesday as we promote health and wellness among workers, with management always in attendance supporting the cause,” he said.
Council Human Resources Officer, Mr Tatenda Mutenda, noted that the initiative also helps refresh workers’ minds.
“As council, it is our purpose to support sporting activities by shifting their minds from work to sport as it refreshes them and builds teamwork,” he said.
Workers also welcomed the programme, Mr. Hlomayi, one of the participants, said the council’s commitment was greatly appreciated.
“We are happy that the City Council is supporting us through this Sports Day. It helps us relax, reduce stress, and unite as colleagues. It shows that management values our well-being,” he said.
The Sports Day initiative continues to foster camaraderie and productivity within Kadoma City Council, reflecting a strong emphasis on employee wellness.
