Tagwirei unveils plans for Highfield, Glen View residents

IN an initiative to transform Gazaland in Highfield and Glen View Area 8 Complex, newly co-opted Zanu PF Central Committee member Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei yesterday announced plans to construct modern world-class complexes.

The developments aim to create industrial areas that will offer a range of goods, including markets, malls and food outlets all under one roof.

The Glen View complex is set to feature unique carpentry facilities designed with a market-style layout, providing competitive prices.

In addition, Gazaland will become a vibrant hub for trading in motor vehicle spare parts. Cde Tagwirei also pledged to build five clinics equipped with maternity wards in Zone 2, which includes Glen View, Glen Norah, Highfield and Budiriro.

Further, he launched a US$200,000 revolving fund to support the party’s main wing, Women’s League, War Veterans League and the Youth League within the zone. Speaking at an inter-district meeting in Zone 2, which sought to give feedback to members on the 22nd Zanu PF National People’s Conference resolutions at Gwanzura Stadium yesterday, Cde Tagwirei highlighted his commitment to developing the area into a world-class marketplace.

“I will inject funding towards the construction of world-class complexes in Glen View Area 8 and Gazaland to support the SMEs,” he said.

“This initiative aims to facilitate formal registration for small businesses.”

Cde Tagwirei assured attendees that Government would assist in constructing roads and providing access to clean water for the new complexes. Zone 2 comprises Highfield, Glen View, Budiriro, Glen Norah and part of Mufakose’s Ward 34.

In further support of the community, Cde Tagwirei announced plans to drill 80 solar-powered boreholes to ensure access to clean water. He also said 12 500 hamper packs would be distributed as a Christmas gift to residents.

Recognising the contributions of war veterans, Cde Tagwirei presented US$75 000 to construct a modern house for Cde Daniel Furusa, a surviving member of the General Staff who participated in the liberation struggle.

In addition, he provided US$10,000 for the acquisition of sunscreen for individuals with albinism, addressing their unique health needs.

Businessman Mr Wicknell Chivayo complemented the initiative by donating 14 computers for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2, further enhancing educational resources in the area. Zanu PF Harare Provincial Chairman Cde Godwills Masimirembwa described the inter-district meeting as a crucial part of their mobilisation strategy.

“This is part of our strategy to ensure Zanu PF reclaims its status in Harare. We have won all the by-elections,” he stated. The inter-district gathering attracted over 12,000 party members and was attended by Politburo members, National Consultative Assembly members, Central Committee members and various provincial officials.

This significant turnout reflects the party’s commitment to grassroots engagement and development.
