Employer sentenced to 15 years in jail after raping his accounts clerk
A 42-year-old man from Eastlea, Harare, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Harare Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of raping a 25-year-old woman employed as his accounts clerk.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the victim began working for the offender on 2 January 2025.
In April 2025, at around 4:30 pm, the offender instructed her to carry out additional work after other employees had left for the day.
“At 1800 hours, he called her to his office upstairs and demanded intimacy before raping her,” said the NPA.
“Thereafter, his continuous demands for sex on several other occasions were all turned down by the victim.
“The woman eventually resigned on the 6th of March 2026 and later disclosed the abuse to her friend.
“The friend assisted her in reporting the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the offender.”
