Despite the familiarity with the venue and opponent, Chikoko confessed to a mix of nerves and focus, saying, “I thought about the fact that I won at the same place against the same team two years ago. But I didn’t want to bring bad luck. I was nervous but focused.”

With eight years spent in France, representing his third team, Chikoko shouldered the responsibility of leading JDA Dijon, particularly following the disappointment of Pau-Orthez’s relegation in the previous season.

“It’s been a tough season. We all knew a win tonight could save our season,” he reflected. While playoff hopes may have dimmed, Chikoko recognizes the significance of the Coupe de France victory, emphasizing, “The Cup is much more than a consolation prize.”
