Father jailed 20 years for raping biological daughter twice
A 57-year-old man from Kuwadzana has been jailed for an effective 20 years after a Harare magistrate convicted him of raping his biological daughter twice when she was under 12.
The Harare Magistrates’ Court found the man guilty on two counts of rape committed in 2019 at a house in Southlands Park, Waterfalls.
The court heard that the girl, who had visited the residence with a companion, was ordered by her father to go into a bedroom. He followed her, locked the door, forced her onto a bed and raped her.
Prosecutors said the assault only stopped when the child began crying, and the person waiting outside knocked on the window.
Before she left, the man told her to get dressed and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
Later the same year, the court heard, he used “the exact same method” to rape her a second time. That attack was also interrupted by the companion knocking, and the father again issued a death threat.
The abuse remained hidden for almost seven years. The matter came to light on 8 May 2026, when the now-teenage survivor disclosed the trauma to her mother.
The family made a report at ZRP Southlea Park the same day, leading to the man’s arrest and prosecution. *_-Pindula_*
