HARARE – Zimbabwean music icon Chase Skuza has been honoured in the Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights’ latest #TuesdayTribute, recognising both his enduring contribution to the country’s cultural landscape and his current work defending creators’ rights.

The tribute, shared by ZICCO on social media yesterday, spotlights Skuza as “one of Zimbabwe’s legendary musicians” whose music has left a lasting mark on the nation. Alongside his artistic legacy, Skuza serves as a Board Member of ZICCO, where he champions the rights and welfare of creators.

“Beyond his remarkable contribution to music, he also serves as a dedicated Board Member of the Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights, championing the rights and welfare of creators,” ZICCO said in the post.

Skuza is best known for pioneering the Sungura sound and producing hits that have become staples of Zimbabwean music for decades. His move into copyright advocacy reflects a broader push by ZICCO to involve veteran artists in shaping policies that protect intellectual property and ensure fair remuneration in the digital age.

ZICCO closed the tribute by saluting Skuza’s “passion, talent, and unwavering commitment to the growth of Zimbabwe’s creative industry,” using the hashtags #SupportingCreators and #CopyrightMatters.

The #TuesdayTribute series is part of ZICCO’s ongoing campaign to highlight artists who have shaped Zimbabwe’s music and to raise awareness about copyright protection for the next generation of creators.
