Form one student kills his classmate after a misunderstanding in class at Mushunje High School

MUTARE-A form one learner who allegedly killed his friend during an altercation at the school appeared in court on Saturday and the matter was remanded to the 23rd of July.Time & Calendars

The learner appeared before provincial magistrate Poterai Gwezhira and is being charged with murder.

It was the State’s case led by Tavonga Mawire that on the 9th of July 2026, at Mushunje High School, Marange the accused and the now deceased were both Form 1 learners.

“At around 1200hrs the accused and the deceased were attending their lessons at Mushunje High School. There were 42 pupils in the classroom and a misunderstanding arose between the two. They started to insult each other, the now deceased stood up and clapped the accused person on his head once,” prosecuted Mawire.

Feeling provoked it is alleged, the accused person then assaulted the now deceased with clenched a fist once on his face and then colliding with the desk. The now deceased fell down to the ground his face lying down.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mushunje Clinic.

The accused was released into the custody of his father who was asked by the court to bring him to court on all routine remand dates.
