Prophet linked to leaking of Wicknell Chivayo rituals audio arrested
A self-styled prophet who allegedly leaked an audio message recorded by the late businessman Wicknell Chivayo, in which the tenderpreneur discussed performing rituals to become rich, has been arrested.
Christopher Guzha, also known as Madzibaba DVD, was arrested in Goromonzi on Sunday accused of armed robbery after an EcoCash agent lost US$12,000, law enforcement sources said.
His wife Bridget told ZimLive that police officers immediately seized Guzha’ phone during his arrest.
Guzha’s son-in-law, who declined to be named, insisted that the armed robbery charge was trumped-up.
“It’s has everything to do with the leaking of the Wicknell audio,” he said.
Guzha is expected to appear before a regional court in Marondera on Monday.
Chivayo, who died in a helicopter crash in Marondera last Wednesday, was heard in the viral recording thanking an unnamed Madzibaba for giving him lucky charms which he said helped him worm his way into President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s good graces.
Chivayo was also heard promising the cleric from Johane Masowe eChishanu sect a vehicle once the money started rolling in.
Chivayo was keen to know the cleric’s availability to perform what he described as one final ritual at Lake Kariba, involving lowering a clay pot containing ritual objects into the depths of the lake.
The recording, whose authenticity has been established, sparked widespread discussion on social media following Chivayo’s death.
