Is Tungwarara wheelchair bound in a Dubai hospital
The absence of Presidential Special Investment Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara from the on-going Zanu PF conference
and the recently-held Presidential Fund-raising dinner has stoked rumours about his health.
Tungwarara has been reported hospitalized or airlifted to Dubai, with conflicting and fast-moving updates circulating across social media and news platforms.
Social media channels and local commentary reports in mid-October 2026 claimed that Tungwarara was paralyzed or rushed to intensive care and airlifted to Dubai paralysed medical treatment, with some unverified rumors alleging poisoning following a political clash.
Just days prior, reports emerged via New Zimbabwe that Tungwarara was airlifted to South Africa at midnight for emergency health care — initially reported or claimed by some sources as a mild heart attack or angina.
Tungwarara himself, in a video recording, disputed claims that he was critically ill, stating the flight was for reasons unrelated to a severe medical emergency.
Tungwarara released a video address explicitly addressing the rumors. He noted, “Some wish that I be sick, some wish that I be on a wheelchair, some are saying I suffered a stroke…” while actively denying that he was paralyzed or suffering a severe medical emergency.
In a country esteeped in belief in the occult and in beliefs of vapostori ‘prophecies’, the emergence of one prophecy saying Tungwarara would ‘soon’ be wheelchair bound only compounded matters.
A self-proclaimed prophet (referred to by some followers as “Boss Kobo”) predicted that Tungwarara would face this condition following the reported death of his business associate, Wicknell Chivhayo.
Before the wheelchair rumors intensified, Tungwarara also publicly dismissed prior prophetic warnings advising him to stop flying in helicopters, vowing to continue traveling by air regardless.
Despite his denials, public speculation remains high as online observers have pointed out that he appeared to be moving with a distinct limp in his recent video updates.
Is Tungwarara now paralysed? Only time will tell.
The rumors coincide with reports of internal friction within ZANU-PF structures and his recent expansion to a broader presidential advisory role.
