AFCON 2023: CAF unbeils prize money breakdown

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has disclosed the financial rewards awaiting participating nations in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

The AFCON 2023 winner is set to claim a prize of $7 million for clinching the coveted trophy, while the runners-up will secure $4 million. Additionally, the two losing semi-finalists, comprising two teams each, will each receive $2.5 million.

Moving down the rankings, the four teams eliminated in the quarter-finals will each be awarded $1.3 million. Meanwhile, the eight teams knocked out in the round of 16 will garner $800,000 each.

Furthermore, two teams that finish third in their group but fail to advance will be granted $700,000. Additionally, the six teams finishing last in their respective groups will be bestowed with $500,000 each.

The breakdown of AFCON 2023 prize money, as revealed by CAF, reflects the substantial financial rewards at stake for the participating teams, underscoring the significance of their performances in the tournament.
