Alick Macheso Suspends Star Dancer Majuice Over Repeated Indiscipline

Renowned musician Alick Macheso has decided to suspend his longtime lead dancer, Selemani ‘Majuice’ Mpochi, due to disciplinary issues.

Majuice had developed a habit of consistently arriving late for work, despite receiving multiple warnings from management.

Final Straw: Alick Macheso Suspends Majuice

Insiders revealed that the breaking point came during Orchestra Mberikwazvo’s Easter tour in Masvingo when Majuice appeared late on stage. As a result, he was instructed to take an indefinite leave from his duties.

“He was told to go home until further notice. He used to come on stage late, sometimes after the man himself (Macheso) and management had been warning him over his behaviour. He thought he was untouchable until the management told him there was only one leader, and it was only Mopao Mokonzi (Macheso),” an insider told H-Metro.

Alick Macheso Confirms Majuice’s Suspension

Consequently, Majuice was noticeably absent from Macheso’s recent shows in Chivhu, Marondera, and Harare. During Macheso’s performance at Steak House on Sunday, he confirmed Majuice’s suspension and addressed concerns from fans. He emphasized that he would not overturn the decision made by his management.

“I am not sure about what transpired, management is better placed to answer your questions, but what I just know is that basa rakapera for now, and I can not interfere with such decisions,” said Macheso.

Kariba Replaces Majuice as the Lead Dancer

Taking a dig at Majuice, Macheso emphasised to the audience that it’s the guitars, not the dancing, that creates the music.

“Kutamba hakuriri, waya ndidzo dzinorira, Nowero mutsa tifambe nayo,” said Macheso, much to the delight the crowd.

Another dancer named Kariba seems to have taken over the lead dancer role as he performed alongside Macheso.

Alick Macheso Gears Up For New Album Release

In the meantime, Macheso is gearing up for the release of his upcoming album on June 7 at Alex Sports Club in Harare. He’s also focusing on the Chesology Sungura Festival, scheduled to take place at Bindura Country Club this Saturday.

The festival promises performances from a stellar lineup including Suluman Chimbetu, Nicholas Zakaria, Leonard Zhakata, Simon Mutambi, Paradzai Mesi, Somandla Ndebele, Sugar Sugar, Peter Moyo, Tindo Ngwazi, and the Cheso Boys, alongside Alick Macheso himself.
