No One Can Stop Us From Taking Drugs, Vows Youths In Hatcliffe As ZANU PF Big Wigs Entertain Youths

By Desire Tshuma

Hooliganism is a cause for concern in Hatcliff, where innocent citizens have been harmed, including in some cases members from the military who have fallen victims to thugs who are patrons of illegal pubs allegedly run by people with close links to an unnamed political party.

“Our children have fallen victims to drug abuse that is traded in these unauthorized night spots that are situated in our neighborhood,” said Mai Munaro, a resident of Hatcliff.

Drug and substance abuse is now the order of the day in Hatcliff, and many youths can be seen in the neighbourhood high on the illicit substances.

Residents in Hatcliff are calling for law enforcement agents to intervene to stop the current trends that are now a threat to the community, resulting in the collapse of the norms and the culture of human living.

Efforts by community and church leaders to bring a halt to the drug abuse have hit a brick wall.

“No one van stop us from taking drugs,” said one youth who refused to give his name.

“Just give us jobs and we migrate from the streets,” said another.

  1. It appears the politicL links of the owners of the pubs shield them from arrest.

The ObserverZim reporter tried in vain to talk to the  complex director of one site where the illicit drugs are peddled.  His mobile phone number went unanswered.

President Emerson Mnangagwa has been calling for the end of drug abuse and has said his administration has zero tolerance to drugs.
